Sunset History Boat Cruise

This week’s tour will take us to the privately owned

Calumet Island, once the home of Calumet Castle, the summer

residence of Charles G. Emery. While on the island we will enjoy

a hot dog cookout hosted by Mike Strouse, who has been head

caretaker on the island for over 30 years.  You might want to bring a

long a blanket as picnic tables won’t be available. As well as the tour

of the island and learning the history of Mr. Emery and his castle, we

will be joined by author, Susan Mathis who has written several books

set in the 1000 Islands. Her newest book “Peyton’s Promise” takes

place at Calumet Castle in 1902, so what better place to meet the

author and have a book signing.
